In the United States November is traditionally the period that launches the holiday season beginning with Thanksgiving which falls this year on November 27th. Vocal Awareness strives to make us mindful of giving thanks every day, not simply seasonally. The First Ritual in Vocal Awareness is to say thank you by acknowledging Source/God or saying thank you to our Deeper Self. It is imperative to ‘step outside ourselves’ ritualistically as often as we care to, i.e. upon awakening, before going to sleep, etc. Beyond that, 30 seconds or a minute before an important meeting, business call or at the conclusion of an event we have been focusing on or preparing for for some time. These daily ‘timeouts’ are not simply perfunctory habits that we do because we are supposed to. Rather, they create an opportunity for us to truly become mindful of the intrinsic connection that exists between what I call Source/Self.

Ritual One—saying thank you—helps us transcend the finiteness of our ego self and connects us to something larger and more inclusive. Every time we say thank you, we inhale. When we do, we instinctively invoke Spirit (Spirit means to breathe; inspire means to breathe into.) Our internal/external space becomes quieter for a moment. In this thoughtful action, we recharge, focus and effectively align mind/body/spirit either for the task at hand or for realigning our internal compass.

If you don’t do so already, begin to give thanks not only at Thanksgiving but every day. You will be astonished by the impact of this fundamental Vocal Awareness Ritual.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Develop Vocal Awareness for Personal Empowerment

Personal Empowerement

In recent polls, the people of the most prosperous and “developed” countries frequently report being the most unhappy. The United States especially has a booming “self-help” industry that promises to boost your self-esteem and self confidence. Yet despite all the tools available, people still search for meaning and fulfillment. Vocal Awareness is unique in the field of “self help” because we acknowledge that we cannot empower you. Our highest aim is always to teach you how to empower your Self, because it is an awareness of Self that leads to true “self confidence.”

Vocal Awareness is pragmatic and strategic. It will help you in your quest for personal empowerment and here’s how:

  • Discern your Life’s Calling: Develop your Mission Statement and learn to further support it with your Goals Statement (what you’ll do to fulfill your Mission) and your Persona Statement (who you need to be to fulfill your Mission.)
  • Leverage your 168: Learn a step-by-step approach to utilizing your time (the 168 hours in your week) to actualize your Mission.
  • Voice as a metaphor for Life: Learn to stand up and declare your Self to the world, physically, psychologically, spiritually, and of course, vocally.
  • Consciously and seamlessly integrate all of You: Achieve your performance and life goals by consistently and mindfully incorporating specific strategies to authentically embody the whole person you are.
